Anyway, I have been using this headphone for the last couple of months. Therefore, I can tell you the competency of this headset from my experience.

Before starting the review, first, let’s know a few things about the Beyerdynamic brand.

Brand Overview

Beyerdynamic GmbH & Co. KG is a German company that manufactures microphones, headphones, wireless audio systems, and conference systems.

It’s a private company that was founded by Eugen Beyer in 1924. The first headquarter was located in Berlin.

At the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, all media reporting sites were using headsets from Beyerdynamic.

The first products of Beyerdynamic were loudspeakers. However, they developed their first dynamic headphones in 1937.

In World War two, the headquarter of Beyerdynamic was completely destroyed.

After that, in 1948, they started their new beginning from Heilbronn.

The nearly 100-year-old company is one of the audio equipment-making giants in the world.

Now that you have known the interesting history of Beyerdynamic, it’s time to enter into the review segment.

Whenever I buy a headphone, I give a lot of importance to comfortability. I’m sure you also do the same.

Therefore, I am going to enlighten you about the comfortability of Beyerdynamic DT 770.

Are They Comfortable?

Beyerdynamic DT 770 is a very comfortable headphone. You can wear it for hours without any nuisance.

The ear cups are made with plastics which are covered with velour earpads. Besides, the earpads are very soft and large in size. You can wear them for a long period.

However, the headband is made of solid metal, which is covered with a replaceable pad. It also comes with an adjustable feature. Therefore, people with a bigger head can wear them too.

The clamping force of these headphones is 1.3 lbs.

So, if you are not an admirer of tight headphones, you may feel uncomfortable.

If the clamping force of your headphone is too much for you, stretch them out.

Since the DT 770 Pro is a wired and bulky headphone, you can’t use it while lying down. But the gentle earcups make the headphone suitable for glass wearers.

From a professional to a casual listener, everyone pays great attention to the sound performance.

So, to learn about the sound profile of DT770 80 Ohm, just keep reading.

Sound Profile

As a studio headphone, the headset provides a well-balanced sound. Though it will not offer a high-quality thumping bass, the bass is quite profound.

Moreover, you can enjoy every detail of the music.

The mids and trebles sound pretty nice. You can get a proper mix of vocals and instruments.

So, as a combination, you can hear a studio-style neutral sound with these headphones.

Now, I’m going to mention the frequency response. Check it out.

Frequency Response

The frequency response of the DT-770 80 Ohm is 5 Hz- 35,000 Hz, which is excellent.

Therefore, you can enjoy a wide range of music in detail.

Soundstage

Beyerdynamic DT 770 provides an excellent soundstage. It is quite wide for closed-back headphones.

Before buying a headphone, every time I check whether the headset leaks any sound or not. It’s because I don’t like people to judge my music taste. And I know most of you think like me.

Let’s see if the DT770 80 Ohm leaks any sound or not.

Does It Leak Any Sound?

Unfortunately, these headphones leak a little sound in the mid and treble ranges. However, it is not that much. In a slightly noisy place, no one will notice it.

I told you earlier that I’m very sensitive about sound leakage. Yet, I don’t have any complaints about the sound leakage of the 770 DT Pro.

No headphones can stop sound leakage completely if you listen to music at a high volume.

You can check out Audio-Technica ATH-M50x if you want a headphone with less sound leakage.

Does It Have A Noise Cancelling Feature?

DT770 headphones have no active noise cancellation property. But it offers an excellent noise isolation feature.

The bigger and closed-back earcups are capable of blocking almost all noise.

Yet, if you want a headphone with an active noise-cancellation feature, you can check the Sony WH1000XM3 overhead headphone.

Microphone Feature

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro has no microphone.

It will only serve your listening needs.

Controlling Option

The headphone has no controlling option.

You can’t change volume, pause, or resume a track.

Anyway, durability is another important feature that needs to be checked properly. Take a look below to know the build quality of these headphones.

How Strong Is The Build Quality?

DT 770 Pro is a powerful and robust headset. The solid metal frame can handle a few drops easily.

One of my friends even said that he accidentally sat over his 770 DT Pro once. But still, the headphone didn’t break.

Moreover, the Beyerdynamic provides two years of warranty. They will repair or exchange your products for any faults within this time.

Are you curious about the design of these strong pairs of headphones? I will answer all your questions about the design in the following part.

Style Or Design

Well, the design of these headphones is very basic.

It looks like the usual professional studio headphones and comes in gray color.

Despite that, a black color limited edition of these headphones is also available in the market. But the black version is a little bit pricey than the gray one.

Now come to the other important features of headphones like portability and stability

Are They Portable?

The DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm is not portable. The earcups are not foldable, and also the wire is not detachable.

Besides, the weight is not very ideal for carrying.

Stability

As a critical listening headphone, 770 DT Pro offers sufficient stability.

It will sit on your head tightly.

You can be sure that the headset will not fall from your head unless the long cord gets stuck somewhere.

However, it is still not suitable for outdoor activities like running, cycling, biking, skiing, hiking, etc. The headset is also not stable enough for heavy workouts like gyms.

Is The 770 DT Pro Waterproof?

The DT770 headphones are not waterproof.

So, obviously, it’s not suitable for swimming or a shower.

After knowing all the features of this pair of headsets, are you worried about their compatibility?

While buying a headphone, I always check carefully how well my desired headphones are compatible with other devices.

Therefore, to remove your worries, let’s see the compatibility in detail.

Compatibility With Other Devices

Since these headsets come with a 3.5 mm jack plug and 6.3 mm jack adapter, they are compatible with almost all kinds of devices.

So, if you want a headphone for these reasons, you should skip it.

Compare With Other Headphones

Now let’s go for a comparative discussion with a few other studio headphones. Thereby, you can understand the differences between DT770 Pro 80 Ohm and others.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. 250 Ohm

DT770 80 Ohm is designed for professional monitoring and recording. On the other hand, the DT770 250 Ohm is designed especially for mixing.

Except for the impedance and cable type, their other features are almost the same. DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm headphone cable is straight, while the DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm contains a coiled cable.

However, the difference between impedance makes the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm better for studio works. And the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm is better for casual and fun listening.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. 32 Ohm

You can’t find any major differences between Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm and 32 Ohm except for the impedance.

DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm provides less bass and detail.

So, even if the DT-770 Pro 80 Ohm needs more power, it offers better sound quality than the 32 Ohm.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. Sennheiser HD 599

The Sennheiser HD 599  is an open-back headphone, while the DT-770 Pro is a closed-back one.

So, each headset provides different sound quality, and both are best in their job.

Besides, as open-back headphones, Sennheiser HD 599 is way more comfortable. And the clamping force of the headband is also less than DT-770 Pro.

However, the frequency range of Sennheiser HD 599 is 12- 38,500 Hz which is comparatively less than DT-770 Pro.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. Audio Technica ATH M50x

Both Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm and Audio Technica ATH M50x are closed-back studio headphones.

DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm is metal build, and ATH M50x is built with robust plastics. One of the significant benefits of ATH M50x is that it comes with detachable cables, unlike DT 770 Pro.

You can enjoy a clear mid with ATH M50x and excellent bass response with DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. Sony MDR 7506

Sony MDR 7506 is another popular closed-back headphone that we can compare with Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm.

One of the notable advantages of the Sony MDR 7506 is that it is a foldable headset. It is also a bit more lightweight than DT-770 Pro.

However, the Sony MDR 7506 contains a 3 m long cable, which is not detachable.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. ATH M40x

In sound profile, DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm is better than ATH M40x. In addition, DT 770 Pro offers a great soundstage and deep, powerful bass.

On the other hand, M40x can be folded and comes with two detachable cables. So, in the case of portability, M40x provides much more than DT 770 Pro.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm

DT 770 Pro is a closed-back headphone, while DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm is an open-back one. So, naturally, their sound quality differs a lot.

Both headphones offer undetachable cable. But the DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm provides a curly cable, and DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm provides a straight cable.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm vs. Sennheiser hd 650

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm and Sennheiser HD 650 are both good for studio work. Meanwhile, Sennheiser HD 650 is an open-back headphone, so it is better for neutral sound.

Besides, Sennheiser HD 650 is more comfortable than DT 770 Pro. It also comes with a detachable cable.

On the other hand, thanks to the closed-back design, the DT 770 Pro offers more sound isolation.
